People Also Played Summary Time to break ground in Rising Cities, one of the best free-to-play city-building games around! In this game, you’ll need to plan, erect and manage your own city from the ground up! You’ll get to construct a variety of residential, commercial and industrial buildings to meet your growing city’s needs. There are also plenty of events and goals for both you and your city to achieve.
Start from a humble house to a bustling metropolitan, you can show everyone that you have what it takes to become a powerful mayor in Rising Cities! Play the game today! Plotline The corrupt ex-Mayor Pinchpenny has emptied the treasury and left the town in a very bad shape financially. People left the city in droves and what’s left of the town is a couple of homes and a town hall that has been ruined by disrepair. It is up to you and your assistant, Gayle Friday, to help the city get back on its feet! Gameplay To start, you will need to know the basics of constructing a building in Rising Cities. Thankfully, there’s a very detailed tutorial on that as well as on anything that you may need to know in this game!
As you will know, construction of any building requires resources, such as lumbers or beams, as well as, of course, a small sum of money. Once the construction process is ongoing, you’ll just need to wait for a period of time, usually within minutes. Taking houses for example, you’ll then need to click on the building to complete the construction and allow the new tenants to move in! Sometimes though, some buildings will have 2 or more stages of construction before you’ll complete the building, which translate into needing more materials and time. Furthermore, there’s an option for you to upgrade your buildings after you’ve collected rent (for houses) or used it to produce materials (production buildings) for a certain number of times.
There is also another way for you to improve buildings but this method can only be used for residential buildings only. The game offers items called improvements which are like boosts that can be obtained via the improvement packs that you’ve bought. These packs can be bought using in-game money or real money. You can use these improvements to temporarily (will expire after 72 hours) increase the mood, needs-fulfillment bonus or rental income, as well as reduce the rent timer and mood loss. Once the improvement expires, you can then replace it with another improvement or you could just leave it at that.
There are several different grades of improvements, namely classic, fancy and epic, too! The better grade the improvement is; the better boost you’ll get. In Rising Cities, industrial buildings are of utmost importance due to its role of providing building materials to your rapidly-expanding city as well as goods for your commercial buildings! Some examples include lumber mill and farm. They usually will reduce the mood and energy of the city and can be built on farmland only. You will use up production points every time you set your industrial buildings to produce materials.
What is mood and energy, you may wonder? Well, these are the 2 most vital factors that are and will be keeping your city alive! Energy level is needed to provide higher production yield, while mood level is needed to increase your city’s population, which technically means you’ll get more rental income. Energy level can be increased by building power plants.
Unlike in other city-building games like SimCity, you don’t need to worry about building polluting buildings near residential areas. However, power plants will reduce your city’s mood level by a significant amount. Thus, in order to maintain a balance, you’ll then need to place a whole lot of decorations to get your mood level up to the ‘green safe zone’. Commercial buildings, such as vegetable stand, Hollywood diner, bread basket and smoothie bar, will only be unlocked when you’re around level 5 and onwards. It seems like the citizens in your city likes shopping as these buildings usually increases mood while consuming energy. Considering that commercial buildings have a rather small area of influence, they must be built near to the buildings that needed it, which usually include the more luxurious houses. You can easily find out what different houses will need by clicking on the house and checking out its information section.
Don’t forget to supply the correct goods to meet the needs of the nearby residential buildings! Every successful delivery will reward you with production points that you can then use to produce more goods or materials.
At level 5, you’ll also unlock the marketplace option in Rising Cities. There, you can trade your buildings materials with fellow players.
This is a great way to earn a lot of money in a short period of time, provided that you do not list your items at a ridiculously high price, of course. With the money you’ve earned, you can construct more buildings or you could also save up and buy land expansions.
Let’s not forget about the event plaza! It is the most happening location in your city as it allows you to participate in exciting events. If you’ve completed the chain of goals required of you, you’ll earn some pretty exclusive items! Community The community in Rising Cities mainly communicates with each other either on the forums or on their 80-thousand-likes Facebook fan page! In fact, the fan page does give out bonus gift codes pretty often, so if you like freebies – who doesn’t, right? – that’s where you should be at!
If you needed some tips and tricks, then head on over to the forum and get some of the best tips from the many experienced players there! Graphics/ Sound Seriously, Rising Cities has one of the most brightly-colored graphics, despite being a city-building game. Its detailed and cartoonish graphics, although may look pleasant enough, are not exactly realistic in any sense. If you’re looking for a city-building game with realistic graphics well, this game is unfortunately not it.
If not, then you should have a great time here! Moreover, the game is accompanied by the background sound of a bustling city (the sound of traffic), filled with the sounds of birds chirping. It’s a rather odd combination of country and urban, but it works nicely for the game. Conclusion In short, Rising Cities is a relaxing and free city-building game to play. It does not require a lot of commitment to maintain this city and it is not as complex as other city-building games like SimCity, making it a game that is easy to pick up! The game also provides a huge variety of residential, commercial and industrial buildings to meet the needs of your growing city.
Don’t forget to cater to the needs of your citizens as well and improve their living conditions from time to time! Your metropolis is waiting to be built, mayor! Rise to power and become the most celebrated mayor in history in Rising Cities today!
